Prof. Bijan Nath of NIT Silchar tests +ve along with his family, alleges harassment

August 4: On Tuesday, Prof. Bijan Nath who teaches Mathematics at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar tested positive. In a social media post, Prof. Nath wrote, “Myself with Mrs. and two daughters found Covid-19 +ve, through Rapid Test at Urban Health Care Centre, Tarapur and waiting here. If anyone has come in contact with us needs to be tested for the same.” The post was given by Prof.Nath in his Facebook wall on Tuesday afternoon.

However, in another social media post at around 10 PM on Tuesday, Prof. Bijan Nath in a frustrating note wrote, “We are being harassed from 12 Noon to 9-10 PM. Just sitting on the bus near Sarla Birla School without any food item, only 1 bottle water. Shame on administration. They want we should die at bus even. Please do not call me now.” (They were brought by bus from the urban centre to Sarla Birla School).

From the 2nd Facebook post, it seems that Prof. Nath and his family got tested at around Tuesday noon. As per sources, they are suffering from fever and cough. It is indeed difficult for such persons to wait for long hours in such a hot and humid weather with symptoms of influenza and cough.
