Private practice by some doctors of GMCH during duty hours! CM directs Principal to ensure such acts are stopped
Services at MMCH to be shut from 1 Jan, 2022
Dec. 19: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) on Saturday and took stock of the services provided to patients. The Chief Minister said, “There have been complaints about certain doctors providing services at private nursing homes during their duty hours. Directed GMCH Principal to ensure that such acts are stopped.”
He also stressed continuing the yeoman service rendered to patients by GMCH during the Covid-19 crisis. The Chief Minister discussed about the new Super- Speciality Block to be launched in February 2022, and on ways to utilise ICU for other patients since COVID cases are less.
In the meantime, CM Assam also stated, “Services at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital will be shut from Jan 1, 2022 as construction of Guwahati’s 2nd medical college will begin. Pandu FRU & the hospital at Dhirenpara will be run by GMCH for the patients undergoing treatment at MMCH.”
