ওয়ে টু বরাক, ১৪ মার্চ : ক্রীড়াক্ষেত্রে নতুন সম্ভাবনার দিগন্ত উন্মোচিত করে শনিবার শেষ হয়েছে সর্বভারতীয় আন্তঃবিশ্ববিদ্যালয় সেপাক টাকরো প্রতিযোগিতা। অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব ইন্ডিয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটিজের অধীনে এবার মহিলা ও পুরুষদের পৃথক এই জাতীয় স্তরের প্রতিযোগিতার আসর বসে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে। শনিবার সন্ধ্যায় পুরস্কার বিতরণী অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে সম্পন্ন হয় আটদিনের এই ক্রীড়া মহারণ।

অত্যাধুনিক ইনডোর স্টেডিয়ামে বিজয়ী দলের হাতে পুরস্কার তুলে দেন উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক রাজীব মোহন পন্থ। সঙ্গে ছিলেন অ্যাসোসিয়েশন অব ইন্ডিয়ান ইউনিভার্সিটিজের অবজারভার ড. এল দিবামণি সিং, আয়োজক কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান অধ্যাপক চিররঞ্জন ভট্টাচার্য, ভারপ্রাপ্ত নিবন্ধক অংশুমান সেন, কলেজ ডেভেলপমেন্ট কাউন্সিলের ডিরেক্টর জয়ন্ত ভট্টাচার্য, বিত্ত আধিকারিক শুভদীপ ধর, স্পোর্টস বোর্ডের ডিরেক্টর তথা আয়োজক কমিটির সচিব অধ্যাপিকা এম তিনেশ্বরী দেবী প্রমুখ।

উপাচার্য অধ্যাপক পন্থ বলেন, এ ধরনের সর্বভারতীয় প্রতিযোগিতা আয়োজন করা সত্যিই এক স্বপ্নপূরণ। তিনি সফল ভাবে এই বিশাল কর্মযজ্ঞ আয়োজিত হওয়ায় সংশ্লিষ্ট সবাইকে আন্তরিক ধন্যবাদ জানান। অভিনন্দন জানান বিজয়ী দলগুলোকেও। প্রাসঙ্গিক বক্তব্য রাখেন অবজারভার এল দিবামণি সিং। শেষে ধন্যবাদ সূচক বক্তব্য রাখেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্পোর্টস বোর্ডের ডেপুটি ডিরেক্টর ড. তপোধীর আচার্য। অনুষ্ঠান সঞ্চালনা করেন ড. জয়শ্রী দে ও আনন্দ কুমার সিংহ।

দুই পর্যায়ে আয়োজিত এই জাতীয় স্তরের প্রতিযোগিতায় প্রায় ৭০০ জন খেলোয়াড় ও ৫০ জনেরও বেশি কর্মকর্তা উপস্থিত ছিলেন। গত ৬ মার্চ থেকে ৯ মার্চ ছিল মহিলাদের প্রতিযোগিতা। এতে বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ১৯টি দল অংশ নেয়। পুরুষদের প্রতিযোগিতা শুরু হয় ১১ মার্চ। এতে বিভিন্ন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের মোট ২৮টি দল অংশ নেয়।

Way2barak, March 14 : Opening new horizons of possibilities in the field of sports, the All India Inter-University Sepak Takraw Championship concluded on Saturday. This year, the national-level championship for both men and women, held under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities, was hosted by Assam University. The eight-day sporting event came to an end with a prize distribution ceremony held on Saturday evening.

At the university’s indoor stadium, the prizes were distributed to the winning teams by Vice-Chancellor Rajive Mohan Pant. Among those present on the occasion were AIU Observer L. Dibamani Singh, Organising Committee Chairman Chiraranjan Bhattacharjee, Registrar I/c Anshuman Sen, Director of the College Development Council Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Finance Officer Shubhadeep Dhar, and Director of the Sports Board as well as Organising Committee Secretary M. Tineshwari Devi, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pant said that hosting such a prestigious all-India championship was truly a dream come true. He expressed sincere gratitude to everyone associated with successfully organizing this large-scale event and congratulated the winning teams. Observer Dr. L. Dibamani Singh also delivered a brief address. The vote of thanks was proposed by Deputy Director Tapodhir Acharjee. The programme was compered by Jayashree Dey and Anand Kumar Singh.

The national-level championship was held in two phases and witnessed the participation of nearly 700 players along with more than 50 officials. The women’s competition was held from March 6 to March 9, with 19 teams from different universities taking part. The men’s competition began on March 11, featuring a total of 28 teams representing universities from across the country.
