Principal along with many employees & students of SS College Hailakandi tests Covid positive

Jan. 12: Since the last few days there has been a surge of Covid positive cases in the state along with the rest of the country. In the three districts of Barak Valley also, the number of Covid cases are increasing by leaps and bounds. Many persons were detected Covid-19 positive in SS College, Hailakandi. As per reports, Principal of the college Amalendu Chakraborty, around 10 to 12 teachers & staff and more than a dozen students of the institution tested positive for Covid-19. All of them were learnt to exhibit mild symptoms and none were serious. This has led to an atmosphere of tense in the college campus.

On Wednesday, Hailakandi registered 76 (76 RAT & 00 RT-PCR) new COVID-19 cases. The district has altogether has 298 active COVID-19 cases. During the day, 893 RAT tests and 100 RT-PCR tests were done. 07 patients were discharged during the day. With this, the district tally of Covid cases has now reached 8,251 (both 1st & 2nd wave).

As of now, a total of 4,526 patients were discharged. It needs mention here that 109 persons were found positive in Hailakandi on Tuesday. Till date, 51 persons died due to Covid-19 in Hailakandi district.  A total of 351 persons were vaccinated on Tuesday.
