25 electric buses to ply soon on the streets of Silchar

November 6: If everything goes on as per the announcement made by the state government, then very soon 25 electric buses will ply on the streets of Silchar. These buses are equipped with all the modern amenities, security features and will not release any harmful gas.

As part of a pilot project, procured under ‘Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles’ (FAME-1), 15 electric buses were introduced under Assam State Transport Corporation in Guwahati., which were flagged off by Assam Minister of Transport, Chandra Mohan Patowary.

If this pilot project yields success, then in the next phase the state government will procure 100 more such buses. Out of the 100, 50 buses will ply in Guwahati and 25 each will run in the streets of Jorhat and Silchar.
