Pulwama attack: Congress Sevadal Young Brigade takes out candlelight march at Silchar

February 15: Massive protests and candlelight marches were held on Friday in different parts of the country against the Pulwama terror attack which claimed the lives of 44 CRPF personnel. Scenes of protest could well be seen in the streets of Silchar. As a mark of tribute to the martyrs, candles were lit up in many houses of the town.

On Friday evening, the grief and outrage over the terror attack spilled onto the streets. District Congress Sevadal Young Brigade took out a candlelight march from District Congress Office raising slogans against Pakistan. More than hundred of party members belonging to various wings of the Congress participated in this candle rally.

The rally went through the major points of the town and culminated at pedestal of the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Rangirkhari. There at the pedestal, candles were put up and anti-Pakistan slogans were raised. “We pay our homage to all the brave soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation,” was written in the banner of the Sevadal Young Brigade.

Speaking to way2barak, Deepjoy Roy, President of the District Congress Sevadal Young Brigade criticised in the terror attack at Pulwama in strict language. He said, “Our party President Rahul Gandhi has lent full support e government in this matter. We too demand strict action against the perpetrators of terrorism.” Deepjoy went a step forward and said that, “If necessity arises, let the general election of the country be deferred, but we first want strict action against Pakistan.”

Apart from Deepjoy Roy, Deboja Sumanta, President of Sevadal Town Committee, Kushal Dutta, Silchar Assembly Youth Congress President and others members of the various wings of the Congress participated in this protest rally.
