Passengers from other NE states to undergo Covid test on arrival in airports & railway stations in Assam

July 19: All passengers entering Assam from other North Eastern states shall from now onwards have to undergo compulsory Covid-19 test in all airports and railway stations in the state. Earlier, passengers from North East states were exempted from doing Covid-19 test on arrival in Assam.

Issuing an order to this effect on 19 July, 2021 by the Government of Assam, it was stated that, “Significant rise in the number of COVID positive persons are reported from the neighboring states of North Eastern Region, continuously for the last few days. Therefore, all the passengers from other north eastern states arriving into Assam shall also be tested for COVID in all Airports and railway stations by Rapid Antigen tests/ RTPCR tests henceforth, until further orders.”

It needs mention here that already strict containment measures including continuous screening of incoming passengers through airports and railway stations are being conducted in the state of Assam to prevent the further spread of COVID-19 the state.
