Param Sundari: Easy charm, real chemistry, fresh rom-com, written by Shanku Sharma

Bollywood rom-coms are often guilty of overreach. They stretch too hard for drama, force comedy, or drown a simple love story in spectacle. Param Sundari does not. Tushar Jalota’s film, produced by Maddock Films, knows exactly what it is: a breezy romance set in Kerala’s backwaters, powered by the first-time pairing of Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor.
The setup is not revolutionary—North guy meets South girl, sparks fly—but it works because the leads do not fake it. Sidharth leans into his natural Delhi swagger, Janhvi grounds Sundari with grace, and together they strike a rhythm that feels unforced. Their chemistry is not fireworks—it is a steady flame, believable enough to carry the story.
The film’s biggest win is Kerala itself. Instead of pretty postcards, we get real textures—festivals, lanes, temple courtyards, water shimmering with daily life. It’s atmosphere, not decoration, and it helps keep the story rooted.
Music by Sachin–Jigar is another strength. The title track sung by Sonu Nigam is already a hook, but what really works is how the soundtrack sets mood without overwhelming the film. For a rom-com, that balance matters.
Supporting roles—from Sanjay Kapoor’s reliable comic timing to Manjot Singh’s energy—add texture without distracting from the leads. Still, the film rests on Sidharth and Janhvi, and they manage to keep it afloat.
Param Sundari is not trying to change the rom-com playbook, and that’s its strength. It’s sunny, uncomplicated, and watchable, the kind of film you’d put on when you want warmth rather than weight.
