Karimganj Hockey Association Felicitates Successful Players

way2barak, May 6: Emphasising the vital role of sports alongside academics, the Karimganj Hockey Association continues its dedicated efforts to nurture young talent and promote hockey in the Sribhumi district. Since 2020, the association has been actively working to sustain the sport and inspire the younger generation to take it up seriously. In a recent initiative, Karimganj Hockey Association felicitated ten of its players who successfully passed the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Assam Higher Secondary examinations on Sunday. The programme was held at the permanent dais of St. Anthony’s School in Badarpur, where noted personality Abdur Razzak attended as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Razzak highlighted the importance of balancing studies with sports. He encouraged the players to pursue regular practice alongside their education, stating that success in life comes through discipline and the right combination of academics and physical activity.

The event was attended by Karimganj Hockey Association secretary Emad Uddin along with key officials including founding member Taz Uddin, president Maruf Ahmed Sodial, treasurer Pintu Shuklabaidya, and Karimganj Hockey Academy director Selim Ahmed. The successful students were honoured with traditional scarves, certificates, and diaries as tokens of recognition. Officials also extended their best wishes and words of encouragement for the players’ future.

The programme concluded with a friendly exhibition hockey match held at the school ground, featuring teams from the Karimganj Hockey Association and the Karimganj Hockey Academy. The players who were felicitated are Arham Uddin, Arnab Jyoti Dey, Habib Ullah, Abu Taiyab Mohammad Imran, Muktadur Rahman Choudhury, Aminul Hussain Choudhury, Suryadeep Dev, Sajel Ahmed, Wahidul Islam, and Swarup Sen.
