8,000 Kgs of Burmese areca nuts seized in Dholai

way2barak, Jan 29: During the conduct of special operation against the transportation of illegal areca nuts, Dholai Police seized 9 numbers of scooties involved and recovered about 360 KGs of suspected to be Burmese areca nuts.

Again, while the operation continuing , two oil tankers coming from Mizoram and heading towards Silchar tried to flee away were intercepted and during search the oil tanker bearing R/C No. AS-01-FC-9524 was found loaded with 4,000 Kgs of suspected to be Burmese areca nuts and another tanker bearing R/C No. AS-01-OC-6727 was found loaded with 4,000 Kgs of suspected to be Burmese areca nuts. In this connection two persons have been arrested and further legal action is being initiated.
