3 Covid-19 patients die at Silchar Medical College in last 24 hours

68 patients in ICU, 11 in ventilator support & 98 put under oxygen at SMCH

June 24: Death of Covid-19 patients continued unabated in Barak Valley. The last 24 hours (5 PM on 23 June to 5 PM on 24 June) witnessed demise of 03 Covid-19 positive patient at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH). This was informed by Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH. Their detailed reports were forwarded to the State Death Audit Board. Out of the 3 deceased, 02 are from Karimganj district and 01 from Cachar district. The deceased were identified as:

  • Fakar Uddin (65) from Ramkrishnagar in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. He, however, passed away at 10.45 PM on the same day, that is, 23 June.
  • Dipti Biswas (76) from Link Road, Silchar took admission at SMCH on 22 June. She breathed his last at 8.10 AM on 24 June.
  • Altaf Uddin (80) from Asimganj in Karimganj district was admitted at SMCH on 23 June. The patient died at 3.30 PM on 24 June.

Dr Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of SMCH informed that till 5 PM on 24 June, there were 130 Covid-19 active patients at Silchar Medical College, out of which 68 patients were there in the ICU, whereas, 62 of them were in the Covid ward. Further, 11 patients were put under ventilator support and 98 of them were in oxygen support. In the last 24 hours, 32 Covid positive patients were admitted at SMCH and 28 of them were discharged.
