Doctor thrashed by attendants inside COVID ICU at JMCH, 2 arrested

Sept. 12: In an ugly turn of events, Dr. Deepjyoti Saikia, Registrar of Medicine at Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) was beaten by an attendant inside the COVID ICU on Saturday. The incident was sharply criticised by the medical fraternity and an FIR was registered at once. Dr Saikia is one of the 3 doctors who are available 24×7 for all COVID services. Informing this unfortunate incident, State Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Saturday night stated, “The Jorhat Police acted swiftly and arrested the two accused, Ishaanjyoti Saikia & Ishwarjyoti Saikia.
