World AIDS Day observed in Silchar

Dec. 1:  Along with the rest of the country, World AIDS Day was observed in Silchar on Tuesday. World AIDS Day, designated on 1 December every year since 1988, is an international day dedicated to raising awareness of the Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection and mourning those who have died of the disease. The theme for World AIDS Day, 2020 is ‘Ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic: Resilience and Impact.’

On Tuesday morning, a rally was taken out from Narshingtola Field in which many organisations like Deshabandhu Club, Assam State AIDS Control Society, Kripa Foundation and Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (BVWDS) took part. The rally organised by District health Society, Cachar went from Narshingtola Field and went upto SM Dev Civil Hospital. An awareness programme was also observed by the Barak Valley Welfare Development Society (BVWDS) under Targeted Intervention Truckers Project in Silchar.
