Numbers fall again: 61 tests +ve in Cachar on Thursday
20 patients are now in critical condition at SMCH
Oct. 1: On Thursday, a total of 61 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, 50 persons were found positive in Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT), whereas 11 persons were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Thursday night. However, he indicated the numbers may increase at night. With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 9,478. It needs mention here that 152 persons were found positive in Cachar on Wednesday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Thursday said that in the last 24 hours, 192 persons were screened at SMCH. Throat swab of another 610 persons were collected. 175 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 24 of them tested positive. Further, 177 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 08 were found positive.
Apart from this, 17 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 13 were discharged. At present, there are 103 active patients at SMCH,out of which, 16 are admitted in ICU and 03 in ventilation. 20 patients are now in critical condition. Another 30 patients are now under oxygen support. Further, 189 persons have donated plasma which was administered upon 350 patients.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, none died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. As of now, there were 148 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 148 deaths, 59 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
