Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing Camp at Assam University on 8th November

Way2barak,  Nov 7 : Chandra Grahan, or Lunar Eclipse will be visible on November 8, 2022 in India and globally. This will be a Total Solar Eclipse, which takes place when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in such a way that the Moon goes through the shadow of the Earth. During this event, the Moon gets into the darkest part of the shadow of Earth, called the Umbra. And when this event takes place, the moon turns a reddish hue. In Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Silchar, the Total Lunar Eclipse will begin at 4:30 PM and reach a maximum at 4:34 PM. The total eclipse will end at 5:11 PM and the Penumbral Eclipse ends at 7:26 PM.

Astronomy Club, in association with the Department of Physics, Assam University, Silchar, will organize the event with Telescopes to watch the Lunar Eclipse live from 4 PM onwards at the terrace of the Physics Department building. University authority has also arranged a bus where interested spectators can come to the campus by that service. The bus will start its journey from Rangirkhari Point, Silchar on that day at 2:30 PM and depart from the University at 7:30 PM. Students from schools, colleges, and universities, including common people, can join this grand event, said by Dr. Himadri Sekhar Das, Convenor, Astronomy Club of Assam University, Silchar, and Associate Professor, Department of Physics. He further added that if someone misses this event, then he/she has to wait till 2025 as the next total lunar eclipse will take place on March 14, 2025.
