MLA Silchar calls for special cleaning drive of 3 main sewerage canals- Rangirkhal, Singirkhal & Longaikhal from Friday

Dipayan Chakraborty convenes emergent meeting of all departments at SMB office on Thursday night

May 26: On Thursday night, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty convened a meeting at the Silchar Municipal Board (SMB) with top officials from various departments. In the meeting, MLA Chakraborty called for a special cleaning drive of the three main sewerage canals of the town – Rangirkhal, Singirkhal and Longairkhal. He directed to undertake the cleaning drive from Friday.

The special initiative is being undertaken keeping an eye on the recurring issue of water logging as well as to clear out the clogged streets and lanes of Silchar town. District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajib Roy, Executive Officer of SMB and his employees, SDOs and Executive Engineers of Water Resource Department (WRD) (Mechanical & Civil), PWD (Roads), PHE, Urban Sewerage Board, his nominees in various departments, all ex-ward Commissioners were present in this important meeting.

Also present at the meeting were ex-vice chairperson of SMB Chameli Paul, Shukla Deb, Amrit Mandal, Shilpi Paul, Ratna Rani Das, Gopika Deb, Mitra Roy, Bhagyarani Paul, Mitu Suklabaidya, Rakhi Choudhury, Madhumita Sharma, Rajesh Das and Jhalak Chakraborty.

Later on, expressing his views, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty said, “Their presence and priceless suggestions were of tremendous help. I also extend my humble gratitude and appreciation towards all my nominees and ward commissioners for providing their much needed services at such crucial times.”

In the post-flood period, MLA Dipayan Chakraborty has earned much accolades from the people of Silchar for trying to mitigate their problems. He took initiative and set up pumps to drain out stagnant water from Itkhola, Malugram, Ghoniwala, Chandicharan Road, Public School Road and other areas of the town.
