No Model Code of Conduct enforced yet, says SMC Commissioner

way2barak, October 13: –The Silchar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has taken serious note of a document that was circulated across certain media platforms and social media handles without due authorization from the competent authority. The said document, reportedly an official communication, has been misinterpreted and shared in a misleading manner, creating confusion among sections of the public regarding the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the forthcoming SMC elections.
Clarifying the matter, SMC Commissioner Srishti Singh stated that “the State Election Commission has not declared any Model Code of Conduct or announced any election date for the Silchar Municipal Corporation.” She further emphasized that any document issued by this office must not be reproduced, shared, or interpreted without prior permission and verification from the competent authority.
However,The Commissioner also urged media houses and individuals using social platforms to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any information before its circulation to prevent the spread of misinformation that may cause public misunderstanding or unnecessary speculation.

The Silchar Municipal Corporation reiterates its commitment to maintaining transparency and ensuring that all official communications are disseminated responsibly through authorized channels only.
