It needs mention here that in the last Parliamentary Elections held in 2014 Sushmita Dev of Congress defeated BJP’s veteran leader Kabindra Purkayastha and bagged the prestigious Silchar seat. This time Sushmita will fight against Dr. Rajdip Roy of BJP. Both of them faced each other during Assembly Election of 2009 when Dr. Rajdip Roy faced defeat. However, both of them are equally confident this year to make it to the finishing point.
