Load shedding at major parts of Silchar as trees fall at 2 places & a transformer also malfunctions

Aug. 5: Many parts of Silchar town witnessed load shedding on Thursday for some hours after a brief spell of rain accompanied with storm during afternoon. Two trees, one at Trunk Road and another at Malugram was uprooted which fell upon electric line thereby damaging the same. Moreover, another electric pole also broke down in the town area. In the meantime, a transformer at END Colony also witnessed major problems and stopped functioning.

All these resulted in long hours of load shedding in various parts of Silchar town including Malugram, itkhola, Trunk Road, Park Road, Chencoorie, Chandmari, some parts of Jail Road etc. However, as per APDCL officials, efforts are on to repair the line and power supply is being restored in the areas phase wise since 8 PM.
