MP Dr Rajdeep Roy inaugurates renovated facilities at Radhamadhab College constructed out of RUSA fund

Jan. 6: On Thursday, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy inaugurated certain newly created facilities at Radhamadhab College, which were constructed out of Rastriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) fund. It needs mention here that RUSA under its 2.0 scheme sanctioned an amount of Rs. 2 crore to Radhamadhab College,out of which Rs 1 crore was released as 1st installment.

Dr Rajdeep Roy inaugurated the renovated Computer Lab with 32 desktop computers, Reading room for students with seating provision for 100 students along with digital library facilities and conference room at Radhamadhab College, Silchar. Librarian Sonali Choudhury showed the guests the new facilities available in the library. This was followed by a formal ceremony which was presided over by the President of Governing Body LK Battacharjee. Also present were Principal Dr Debashish Roy, Donor members Er. Angshu Kumar Roy & Anup Kumar Roy, RUSA Coordinator Sudarshan Gupta, faculty members, non-teaching staff and students.

In his speech Dr Roy said, “Radhamadhab College holds a special place to me as my father Late Bimolangshu Roy was closely associated with this college for more than 3 decades. He was also twice the President of the Governing Body of this college. He urged upon the students to make the optimum use of the library and computer facilities available in the college.” Dr Roy also assured all help and cooperation in the development of the college.

As regards provincialisation of the Commerce stream, he said, “I have already met and urged upon the state education minister Dr Ranoj Pegu about this and I am hopeful that very soon the Commerce stream will be provincialised.”

Earlier, Principal of the college Dr Debashish Roy delivered the welcome address. Er Angshu Kumar Roy also thanked the MP for taking keen interest in the progress and development of Radhamadhab College. In his address, the President of the Governing Body, LK Bhattacharjee spoke about staring Science stream in the college very soon. Arunabha Bhattacharjee, Asstt Professor of English delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Sudarshan Gupta, Head of the Department of History.

MP Dr Rajdeep Roy also went around the college and saw the various construction works going there. Meanwhile, he also played Table Tennis with the students for some time. The students were happy to play with the Member of Parliament and interact with him.
