Minister Krishnendu Paul reviews key development works in Barak Valley

way2barak, Aug 22: Minister for Public Health Engineering, Hill Areas and Barak Valley Development, Krishnendu Paul, on saturday chaired a review meeting on the development of Barak Valley at the Assam Secretariat, Barak Valley, Silchar and reviewed the progress of two important infrastructure projects,the Construction of the New Auditorium-cum-District Library at Silchar and the Establishment of the Assam Secretariat at Barak Valley, Silchar.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the present status of both projects including the revised estimates and the process of administrative approval. The Minister directed the officials concerned to take necessary steps for expediting the approval process so that the projects can progress smoothly and be completed within the stipulated time frame.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Krishnendu Paul said that the development of Barak Valley remains a priority and that all concerned departments and agencies should work in close coordination to ensure timely implementation of important infrastructure projects.

“The development of Barak Valley has to move forward with speed and proper coordination. Our focus should be on completing important projects on time so that the people can have their intended benefits at the earliest,” the Minister said.

The Minister also reviewed the ongoing construction activities and directed the concerned contractors to accelerate the pace of work while maintaining the required quality standards. He called for regular monitoring of the progress so that the projects remain on schedule.

Emphasising the importance of timely completion of public infrastructure, Shri Paul said that effective coordination between the administration, implementing agencies and contractors would help to ensure that the benefits of the projects reach the people without delay.

“We are working towards creating better infrastructure and stronger institutional facilities for Barak Valley. Every project has its own importance and our collective responsibility is to ensure that the work progresses efficiently and reaches completion at the earliest,”The Minister added.

It’s worth mentioning that the New Auditorium-cum-District Library at Silchar is expected to provide an important public facility for cultural, educational and community activities, while the proposed Assam Secretariat at Barak Valley, Silchar will further strengthen the administrative infrastructure of the region.

The Minister also called upon the officials concerned to maintain regular follow-up on the projects and ensure that all necessary administrative and technical processes are completed in a timely manner.

The review meeting formed part of the government’s continued efforts to monitor major development projects in Barak Valley and facilitate their smooth and timely implementation.

Minister Krishnendu Paul reiterated that the government would continue to give priority to infrastructure development in Barak Valley and work towards ensuring better facilities and services for the people of the region.

The review meeting was also attended by Cachar District Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta IAS,Joint Secratary,Dr Khaleda Sultana Ahmed ACS,Joint Secratary Pankaj Deka ACS , Additional Secretary,J.R Lalsim ACS Joint Secretary, Haricharan Bakta ACS , Executive Engineer PWD , Buliding and other senior officers.
