Internet ban in Assam from 26 March is a FAKE news

March 25: As total cases of the novel coronavirus disease in India rose 606 as India entered the first day of a three-week lockdown, people are baffled by circulation of fake news in social media. One such news which is in circulation in social media platforms is that internet services will be banned in Assam from 2 PM of 26 March for 45 days. This is totally a FAKE NEWS.

Some scrupulous elements have used an image of state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma with the logo of television channel News Live on it. On that image it is written in Assamese that  internet service will be banned in Assam for 45 days from 26 March. On investigation, way2barak found that this is a FAKE NEWS.

We urge all to circulate any such fake news on social media without being cent percent confirm. Remember, this is a serious offence and those sharing such fake news will be imprisoned as per the law of the land.
