143 tests COVID-19 positive in Cachar on Wednesday

September 2: Another 143 new cases of novel coronavirus positive were reported from Cachar district on Wednesday. During the day, a total of 1018 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done in the district, out of which, 134 were detected as COVID-19 positive, the rest 09 cases were found in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert on Wednesday late evening. It needs mention here that on Tuesday, Cachar registered 174 positive cases.

In the 1st slot of RT-PCR Test results on Wednesday, six persons were tested posted in Cachar. Out of them, 2 laboratory technicians of Microbiology lab of SMCH were found positive. They are a 48-year-old male from opposite Silchar Polytechnic and a 25-year-old male from Daspara, SMC, Silchar. Further, three persons from Masimpur Military Station were also tested positive. The last one in this slot is a patient from Manipuri Basti, Silchar who is at present admitted at Cachar Cancer Hospital & Research Centre.

In the 2nd slot of RT-PCR Test results, only one person was found positive. He is 48 years old and hails from Vivekananda Road, Silchar.

In the 3rd slot of RT-PCR Test results, two positive cases were detected. They are a 51-year-old female from Kalibari Road, Udharbond and a 23 years old male from NIT Silchar.

In the 4th slot of RT-PCR Test results, once again only one person from Cachar was detected as COVID-19 positive on Wednesday. The patient is a 35-year-old female from Alipur Basti, Cachar.

Further, from 27 August, Rapid Antigen testing Centres in all the Municipal Wards of Silchar has started  functioning. These rapid centres were set up in the school premises. There are 28 such testing centres in the Municipal area of Silchar. The centres remain open from 9.30 AM to 4.00 PM.

Here is the centre-wise break up of the RAT done in the 28 Urban centres on Wednesday: 

A total of 318 rapid tests were done in these 28 centres within Silchar Municipal area. Out of 318 rapid tests, 63 persons were detected as COVID-19 positive. A total of 56 positive patients were sent for home isolation and only 07 of them were sent to hospitals.

The highest number of 11 positive cases were registered during the day from the Cachar High School Centre. All 11 of them were allowed to go for home isolation. 7 each positive cases were detected at Abhaya Charan LP School and TT College. Further, 6 each from Holy Cross School, Sreepally L.P. School Adharchand HS School and Sishu Mandir High School centres were detected. Another 5 positive patients were tested in Norma School centre. 3 persons were found positive from Hai keramathullah LP School centre. Finally, 1 each positive cases on Wednesday were detected from BC Roy High School, Radhamadhab LP School, Pranabananda Holy Child High School, Sarbadaya Patshala, Ramanuj Vidyamandir and MM Balika Vidyaniketan High School centres. However, not a single positive cases were detected from 10 centres in Silchar Municipal area.
