“Janata Curfew” on 22 March to be followed by “Vyapar Bandh” on 23 March in Assam
All shops & business establishments to remain closed in Assam on 22 & 23 March
March 21: The Assam Chamber of Commerce in a press release issued on 21 March, 2020 informed that all shops and business establishments in the state shall remain closed on 22 and 23 March, 2020. In the said press release issued by Rupam Goswami, Chairman, Assam Chamber of Commerce, it was stated that, “At this stage, we are in a very critical stage. For the greater interest of the society, we request all business community to strictly abide by all advisories issued by the government.”
The Assam Chamber of Commerce further gave total support to the “Janata Curfew” on 22 March as appealed by the Prime Minister to break the chain of the deadly coronavirus. The release of the Chamber further stated that, “Keeping in line with the Janata Curfew on 22 March, we like to appeal to all the business community of the state to observe 1 day Vyapar Bandh on 23 March, 2020 from 6 AM to 9 PM.”
The state Chamber of Commerce also added that, “The loss that will happen to us is smaller than the cause that we are contributing to. We appeal to all organisations to come forward to help the government in containing the further spread of COVID-19.”
