Increase Covid vaccination & testing centres in Cachar, demands Int Human Rights Council
May 31: A memorandum addressed to the Deputy Commissioner Cachar was written by the Cachar branch of International Human Rights Council (IHRC). In the absence of the Deputy Commissioner, a delegation of the Human Rights Council handed over the memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Juga Krishna Rajbongshi on Monday. In the said memorandum, a demand was raised to increase the Covid vaccination and testing centres in Cachar district.
Later on, addressing the media, Dist Board’s Public Relation Officer Sabyasachee Rudra Gupta said that in comparison to the population of Cachar, the number of Covid vaccination centres as well as centres are very less. This results in the suffering of the people. Moreover, he stated that due to heavy rush in these centres, there is chance of spreading the infection.
He further informed that the ADC assured the government is fully aware of the situation and is striving hard for benefit of the people at large. However, he informed that at present there is shortage of vaccines in the district. The ADC informed that the situation will normalise within the next few days. Mr Rudra Gupta informed that ADC Rajbongshi assured to give due weightage to the demands raised by IHRC and highlighted the pivotal role of the NGO’s in this hour of crisis.
Apart from Sabyasachee Rudra Gupta, the delegation of Cachar district IHRC comprised of its President Sudip Ghosh, General Secretary Anoop Dutta, Assam State President Dayamay Bardhan and sanitization officer Tapash Hore.
