Heartbreak Again for Nababarta Media Warriors; Barak Bulletin Crowned BUKSS Champions

way2barak, March 22: Nababarta Media Warriors suffered yet another heartbreak in the final as they fell short at the last hurdle in the BUKSS Media Cricket Fest, finishing runners-up for the second consecutive year. Barak Bulletin Media Challengers defeated them by 18 runs in the final to lift the title.
Much like last year, when they lost to Hailakandi Khobor Heroes by 13 runs, Nababarta once again faltered in the summit clash. Debabrata Deb endured the agony of finishing on the losing side despite remaining unbeaten in both finals—scoring 54* last year and 33* this time.
The final, played at the Satindra Mohan Dev Memorial Stadium in Silchar, was reduced to 12 overs due to adverse weather. Batting first, Barak Bulletin posted a formidable 124/4. Captain Anirban Roy Choudhury led from the front with a 64 run off 32 balls, hitting one six and seven fours. Pritam Das contributed 21, while Manoj Roy added 15. Extras played a big role, contributing 20 runs. For Nababarta, Captain Humayun Kabir Jasim picked up 2 wickets for just 7 runs in his 3 overs.
In reply, Nababarta could manage only 106/5 in 12 overs. Debabrata Deb remained unbeaten on 33, while Abdul Kaiyum Laskar played a quickfire knock of 27 off 11 balls to keep hopes alive till the end. Humayun Kabir Jasim chipped in with 25 off 19 deliveries. However, a stunning catch by Manoj Roy to dismiss Jasim off Biman Sinha proved to be the turning point of the match.
Anirban was equally effective with the ball, claiming 4 wickets for just 13 runs in his 3 overs, earning him both the Player of the Match and MVP awards. Manoj Roy was named the “Man of the Moment” for his crucial contribution in the field. Satyajit Shuklabaidya of Barak Bulletin received the Best Entertainer award.
Jasim was adjudged the Best Batter of the tournament with 127 runs and also won the MVP title. Anirban bagged the Man of the Tournament and Best Bowler awards with 8 wickets. Pritam Das was named Best Fielder, while Satyajit emerged as the Best Wicketkeeper. Paramount News Rockers received the Sanjay Roy Memorial Fair Play Award.
