Hailakandi police starts virtual meeting with OCs to tackle COVID-19 situation

May 14: Hailakandi district police has started virtual meeting cum briefing session with Officer in-Charge of all police stations with a view to dealing with COVID-19 crisis in an efficient way. Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath said through video conferencing beginning on Thursday, all the OCs of the police stations were instructed to deal with any COVID-19 related situation together with the incoming of people from other parts of the country.

Nath said that the online conferencing has helped to communicate fast exchange of ideas and sorting out of problems without anyone having had to move from their respective locations. “It also helps in a way to avoid physical contacts amid the novel coronavirus pandemic when social distancing norms have to be strictly adhered to”, he said adding that as part of austerity measures it cuts down expenses involved while travelling.

The SP further disclosed that the online exercise that has turned out to be an effective medium in the present corona situation, would be carried out once in a week to keep things under control. “The corona effect has induced this positive change which otherwise would not have been visualised at all,” he quipped, adding that necessity is the mother of invention.
