GS Roy Birth Centenary Committee & Major Dhyan Chand Club organises football match

August 30: On the occasion of the National Sports Day, two football matches were organised at Hathicherra Football Ground, under Borkhola Constituency on Thursday. The matches were organised by ‘Late Gauri Shankar Roy Birth Centenary Celebration Committee’ and ‘Major Dhyanchand Club’ to commemorate the 114th Birth Anniversary of ‘Magician of Hockey, Major Dhyanchand.

Apart from two football matches (men & women), other outdoor games were also organised over there. The sport events got a overwhelming response from the youth, who were mainly the inhabitants of the tea gardens located there. The events were organized to promote sports at the tea garden level.

The prizes were won by the following teams:

• Football Girls champion -‘ Adibasi boys football Club’– Team Captain Saraswati Mirdha received the trophy
• Football boys champion – ‘Adibasi girls football Club’– Team Captain Bijoy Mirdha received the trophy.
• (Under 18)Boys 100 mtr running race : 1st – Basanta Rajbonsh i— 2nd – Bitu Shil
• (Under 15) Boys1st — Suroj Sawtal
• (Under 10yrs)Boys— 1st: Raj Nayak
• 100mtr Girls (under 18)running– 1st _Pratima Rikiyason and 2nd  Lakhi Urang
• 100 mtr Girls (Under 12)– 1st: Parboti Kol
• Long jump (under 18)Boys– 1st : Basanta rajbongshi

The Chief Guest of the Prize Distribution Ceremony was Sanjeev Roy, Secretary, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. Others who graced the occasion are  Manoj Rikiason, President of Major Dhyanchand Club, Bandita Trivedi Roy, V. D. P secretary Rita Tantubai, Nandaa Roy, Jakir Talukdar and Jogonath Mahali. The events were conducted under the supervision of Rajdip Mahali.
