Gegong Apang, former CM of Arunachal Pradesh resigns from BJP

January 16: In a latest development, Gegong Apang, former Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh resigned from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Seven times MLA and Chief Minister for 23 years, Gegong Apang sent his resignation letter to party chief Amit Shah on Tuesday. In the resignation letter, Mr. Apang stated that, “I am disappointed to see that the present day BJP is no longer following the principles of Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The party is now a platform to seek power.”

In his resignation letter, Gegong Apang further urged upon the BJP President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remember the teachings of Vajpayee about “Raj dharma,” and stated “Perhaps history will judge you kindly.” He further stated that he will now concentrate more on grassroot problems. The resignation of Mr. Apang before the Lok Sabha elections of 2019 is regarded by the political analysts as a real loss for the BJP in the North East.
