Five Assam University Scientists Recognised Among World’s Top 5% in Global Index
বিশ্বের সেরা পাঁচ শতাংশে আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের পাঁচ জীববিজ্ঞানী

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ২৪ জুন : আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের জীববিজ্ঞান ও বায়োইনফরমেটিক্স বিভাগের পাঁচজন বিজ্ঞানী ২০২৫ সালের গ্লোবাল সায়েন্টিস্ট ইনডেক্সে বিশ্বের শীর্ষ ৫ শতাংশ বিজ্ঞানীর তালিকায় স্থান পেয়েছেন। এই স্বীকৃতি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গবেষণা ক্ষেত্রে আন্তর্জাতিক মানের উৎকর্ষেরই প্রমাণ বলে মনে করা হচ্ছে। এই তালিকায় স্থান পাওয়া জীববিজ্ঞানীরা হলেন অধ্যাপিকা সর্বাণী গিরি, অধ্যাপিকা সুচিস্মিতা দাস, অধ্যাপক অনুপম দাস তালুকদার, অধ্যাপক অনুপম বরা ও ড. শুভাশিস চৌধুরী।

গবেষণা জগতের বিশ্বব্যাপী মূল্যায়নের জন্য পরিচিত স্বাধীন সংস্থা ‘সাইর‍্যাঙ্ক গ্লোবাল’ (দ্য গ্লোবাল ইনস্টিটিউট অব সায়েন্টোমেট্রিক্স) এই স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করেছে। সংস্থাটি তথ্যনির্ভর, স্বচ্ছ এবং গাণিতিকভাবে কঠোর মানদণ্ডের ভিত্তিতে বিশ্বের গবেষকদের মূল্যায়ন করে থাকে। ২০২৫ সালের গ্লোবাল সায়েন্টিস্ট ইনডেক্স প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছে ১ কোটিরও বেশি সক্রিয় গবেষকের প্রোফাইল এবং ৫ কোটিরও বেশি গবেষণাপত্রের বিস্তৃত বিবলিওমেট্রিক বিশ্লেষণের মাধ্যমে।

সাইর‍্যাঙ্ক গ্লোবালের মতে, এই নির্বাচন প্রক্রিয়ায় ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান, প্রতিষ্ঠান বা চাকরির মেয়াদের মতো বিষয়গুলিকে গুরুত্ব না দিয়ে গবেষণার প্রকৃত উৎকর্ষতা ও মানবজ্ঞান বৃদ্ধিতে অবদানের ওপর জোর দেওয়া হয়েছে।
গবেষকদের মূল্যায়নের জন্য ‘নরমালাইজড কম্পোজিট স্কোর (এনসিএস)’ ব্যবহৃত হয়েছে। এর আওতায় গবেষণাপত্রের সংখ্যা ও গুণমান, গবেষণার প্রভাব ও উদ্ধৃতি (সাইটেশন) সূচক, এবং জ্ঞান ও উদ্ভাবনের ক্ষেত্রে সামগ্রিক বৈজ্ঞানিক অবদানকে বিবেচনায় নেওয়া হয়েছে। আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের এই পাঁচ জীববিজ্ঞানীর আন্তর্জাতিক স্বীকৃতি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের গবেষণা ও একাডেমিক পরিমণ্ডলের জন্য একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অর্জন হিসেবে বিবেচিত হচ্ছে।

Way2barak, June 24 : Five faculty members from the Department of Life Science and Bioinformatics at Assam University, Silchar, have been named among the world’s top 5% of scientists in the 2025 Global Scientist Index. The honoured researchers to make it to the prestigious list are Prof. Sarbani Giri, Prof. Suchismita Das, Prof. Anupam Das Talukdar, Prof. Anupom Borah, and Dr. Shuvasish Choudhury.

This acknowledgment comes from SciRank Global (The Global Institute of Scientometrics), an independent certification body dedicated to providing a transparent, data-driven, and mathematically rigorous standard for benchmarking the global research community.

The 2025 Global Scientist Index is based on an extensive bibliometric analysis of over 10 million active researcher profiles and 50 million scholarly works. According to SciRank Global, the selection process focuses on scientific excellence through measurable contributions to human knowledge, deliberately removing biases related to geography, institution, or academic tenure.

The index utilises a ‘Normalized Composite Score (NCS),’ which evaluates researchers based on number and quality of published scientific papers, citation metrics and the influence of their work within their respective fields and overall advancement of knowledge and innovation.
