Fine of ₹1000 to be imposed for not wearing mask, announces Cachar Police

April 18: In the wake of the rise in Covid-19 cases in Cachar district, the district administration has urged upon the people to exhibit Covid appropriate behaviour. It is in this context, the Cachar Police has taken in its stride the duty of making the people of the district aware about following Covid-19 protocols.

The Cachar Police on Sunday was seen to announce in various parts of Silchar town about wearing face masks and maintenance of social distance. The Cachar Police announced, “In the present context of the spike in number of coronavirus cases, the inhabitants of the district are hereby informed that wearing of face masks has been made compulsory. Anybody violating this order will be legally punishable or a fine of Rs.1000 will be imposed upon the violators. Further, people are also asked to maintain social distancing.”

On Saturday, 21 new cases of COVID-19 was reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1,466 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, a total of 14 persons were found positive, whereas 07 more were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Saturday night. It needs mention here that 12 persons tested positive in Cachar on Friday.

With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 11,703. Further, a total of 11,511 patients were discharged in the district as of now.  At present,15 patients are admitted at Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH), 06 at green Heals Pvt Hospital, 03 at MH, whereas, 130 others are in home isolation. There are 154 active cases in Cachar district.

Meanwhile, similar announcements being made across the state requesting people to wear face masks mandatorily and follow Covid appropriate protocols.
