Election for AUNTEA set for tomorrow; intense contest between new and experienced candidates
রাত পোহালেই আনটিয়ার নির্বাচন, জমে উঠেছে নবীন-প্রবীণের লড়াই

ওয়ে টু বরাক, ৮ ডিসেম্বর : রাত পোহালেই আনটিয়ার নির্বাচন। গঠিত হবে আগামী দু’বছরের জন্য আসাম বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় অশিক্ষক কর্মচারী সংস্থার নতুন কার্যকরী কমিটি। মঙ্গলবার বেলা এগারোটা থেকে বিপিনচন্দ্র পাল মিলনায়তনে শুরু হবে ভোটগ্রহণ পর্ব। চলবে বেলা তিনটে পর্যন্ত। এব্যাপারে যাবতীয় প্রশাসনিক প্রস্তুতিপর্ব সম্পন্ন।

এবারের নির্বাচনে সভাপতি পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় রয়েছেন দেবাশিস চক্রবর্তী ও সাগ্নিক চৌধুরী। দু’জনেই পোড়খাওয়া ব্যক্তিত্ব ও অভিজ্ঞতাসম্পন্ন। সাধারণ সম্পাদক পদেও দু’জন প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী। ড. পিনাক কান্তি রায় একই পদে লাগাতার দুই মেয়াদ সম্পন্ন করেছেন। অন্যদিকে উৎপল দাস এবারই প্রথম এই পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় নেমেছেন।

সহ-সভাপতি পদে লালন প্রসাদ যাদব ও পৃথ্বীরাজ গোয়ালা প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন। লালন এই পদে নতুন মুখ হলেও পৃথ্বীরাজ গত দুই কার্যকরী কমিটিতে এই দায়িত্ব সামলেছেন। সহ-সাধারণ সম্পাদক পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন অমিত কুমার দেব ও কিঙ্কর পুরকায়স্থ। সাংস্কৃতিক পরিমণ্ডলে অমিত যেমন সুপরিচিত, তেমনি তরুণ-তুর্কি হিসেবে কিঙ্করও সজ্জন ব্যক্তি।

কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদের প্রার্থী অনুপম চৌধুরী ও শংকর শুক্লবৈদ্য। অনুপম এই পদে প্রথম লড়লেও শংকর লাগাতার এই দায়িত্ব সামলে আসছেন। সহ-কোষাধ্যক্ষ পদে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন কানু ধর ও সঙ্গীতা গোয়ালা। কানু ও সঙ্গীতা, দুজনেই এই পদে প্রথম প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন। এছাড়াও এগারোটি কার্যকরী সদস্য পদে মোট আঠেরো জন প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করছেন। সব মিলিয়ে নির্বাচনী আসর জমে উঠেছে।

Way2barak, December 8 : The much-awaited election of the Assam University Non-Teaching Employees’ Association (AUNTEA) will be held tomorrow. A new executive committee for the next two years will be formed through this election. Voting will take place on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bipin Chandra Pal Auditorium. All necessary administrative preparations have been completed.

This year’s election has shaped up to be a keen contest among seasoned and fresh candidates. For the post of President, Debasis Chakraborty and Sagnik Choudhury are in the fray—both known for their strong personalities and extensive experience. The General Secretary’s post also has two contenders. Dr. Pinak Kanti Roy, who has served two consecutive terms, is seeking re-election, while Utpal Das is contesting for this position for the first time.

For the post of Vice-President, Lalan Prasad Yadav and Prithviraj Goala are competing. While Lalan is a new face in this role, Prithviraj has held the position in the last two executive committees. The candidates for Joint Secretary are Amit Kumar Deb and Kinkar Purkayastha. Amit is well-known in cultural circles, whereas Kinkar, regarded as a dynamic young personality, is also respected among peers.

The Treasurer’s post will see a contest between Anupam Choudhury and Shankar Shuklabaidya. Anupam is contesting for this post for the first time, while Shankar has been holding the responsibility continuously. For the position of Joint Treasurer, Kanu Dhar and Sangita Goala are competing, both contesting for the first time.

Apart from these, a total of eighteen candidates are vying for eleven executive member posts. Overall, the election atmosphere has become lively and competitive.
