After Delhi, protestors strip naked at Guwahati against Citizenship Bill

February 1: Protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 have enveloped virtually many parts of Assam since the Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on January 8. In this regard, a nude protest was staged last month by 10 Assamese youths in front of Parliament in the national capital. On Friday, several protestors took to the street in front of Assam Secretariat at Dispur in Guwahati.

While one of the protestors was completely naked, the other three were in their undergarments in broad daylight. The protesters were shouting slogans demanding scrapping of the citizenship bill and denouncing the central government. However, police was swift enough to take the situation under control. The police covered the protesters with blankets and took them into custody. The trio were identified as Sonaram Das, Harakanta Das, Bubul Deka and Naren Kakoti.
