Dr. S. Lakshmanan supervises dry run exercise of Covid-19 vaccine in Assam
Jan. 2: A dry run to check the best way to vaccinate people against COVID-19 and plug loopholes in logistics and training was conducted across India on Tuesday. Dr. Lakshmanan S, IAS, Mission Director, NHM Assam inspected and supervised the COVID-19 dry run of vaccination sites under Kamrup Metro District on Tuesday. The process, in which participants receive dummy COVID vaccines, is meant to test the mechanisms and reveal possible gaps in the system ahead of the actual vaccination drive.
The massive exercise comes a day after a panel of government-appointed experts recommended approval for the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine, manufactured by Serum Institute of India, to the regulator Drugs Control Authority of India. India conducted a dry run for COVID-19 vaccination exercise in two districts each of four states at the four corners- Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab on 28 & 29 December. The pilot dry run project was run without any hitch. Today’s exercise is the second dry run being conducted in the country.
