Dr Rajdeep Roy visits GC College after being elevated to University, interacts with stakeholders
way2barak, Nov.30: Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma after the Cabinet Meeting on 29 November declared that GC College will be upgraded to full- fledged state University. The announcement led to bursting of fire crackers by the students in the campus yesterday. Teachers too were in celebration mood. On Wednesday too, the celebration continued as hundreds of students gathered in the college campus and celebrated this achievement.
Meanwhile, Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy visited GC College on Wednesday and interacted with all the stakeholders. He expressed satisfaction at the elevation of the prestigious college, his alma-mater to the status of state university.

Infact, MP Dr Roy met Dr Ranouj Pegu, Education Minister of Assam and discussed in Guwahati on 27 November, 2021 and urged upon him to upgrade Guru Charan College, Silchar, Cachar College, Silchar and Karimganj College of Barak Valley to the status of state University. At that time, Dr Roy informed that Dispur was very positive about upgradation of GC College, Silchar. He said, “Earlier, I had even said to our Chief Minister about upgrading GC College. They are exploring the various possibilities and will then take a call on this issue.”
