District-Level Committee Constituted in Cachar for Implementation of Amar Mati Nayak Initiative
way2barak, June 19:-– The Cachar district administration has constituted a District-Level Committee for the implementation of the Amar Mati Nayak programme.
The committee has been formed in pursuance of the Standard Operating Procedure notified for the expansion of the programme to the districts of Kamrup ,Jorhat, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Kokrajhar and Sonitpur. The initiative aims to commemorate and preserve the legacy of posthumous eminent personalities of the district who are no longer with us and who made enduring contributions to society, culture, education, literature and public life. It also seeks to foster greater awareness among the younger generation about their achievements, ideals and values.
In Cachar, the District Commissioner will serve as the Chairman of the committee, while the Additional District Commissioner (Education) will function as the Vice-Chairman. The Inspector of Schools, Cachar District, and the District Elementary Education Officer, Cachar, have been entrusted with the responsibilities of Member Secretaries to coordinate and facilitate the programme’s activities at the district level.
Recognising the importance of broad-based participation, the committee brings together experienced administrators, eminent educationists, literary figures, cultural personalities and media professionals whose expertise is expected to enrich the implementation process. Among the members are retired senior bureaucrat and former Secretary to the Government of Assam, Smt. Madhumita Choudhury, ACS, noted social worker and literary personality Shri Sanjib Deb Laskar,eminent academician Dr. Amalendu Bhattacharjee, renowned writer, columnist and poet Shri Dipankar Ghosh, academician, Head of the Department Assamese literature, Gurucharan University,Silchar ,Dr Ashraf Hussain, retired principal Shri Ratan Paul, renowned journalist and media professional Shri Taimur Raja Choudhury and distinguished cultural personality Pandit Amarendra Chakraborty. The Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley Zone, Silchar, Assam, is also a member of the committee.
The constitution of the committee marks an important step towards ensuring the effective implementation of the Amar Mati Nayak initiative in Cachar district and towards honouring the invaluable contributions of distinguished personalities who have enriched the district’s social, cultural and intellectual heritage.
