Fire breaks out at Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, Kolkata
November 20: Fire broke out at Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata. The fire originated from the genetic laboratory of the Research Wing on Tuesday morning. Smoke engulfed the Genetic Laboratory located in the fourth floor of the hospital. Two fire brigades rushed to the spot and are on the mission of extinguishing the fire.
Many patients were inside the hospital when fire broke out. This led to panic among the patients. The hospital authorities are trying to evacuate the patients from inside the hospital. Police forces from Bhavanipur Police Station has reached the spot. Very important documents are feared to have burnt in the Laboratory. After half an hour of extinguishing exercise, fire has now come to under considerable control. The quantum of smoke has also lessened comparatively. Reasons for the outbreak of the fire is still unknown.

In another separate incident, fire broke out in a closed shop at Nalini Sen Lane at Barabazar area of Kolkata. Merchants of the area are highly tensed at fire is spreading very fast. Three fire engines have rushed to the spot.
