DC, SP visits Shivasundari NariSikshasram; impressed by its way of functioning

Nov. 26: On the invitation of the Executive Committee of Shivasundari NariSikshasram & Antenatal Clinic, Silchar, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, Keerthi Jalli and Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena paid a visit there and took stock of the activities. Both the Deputy Commissioner and Police Super were accorded a warm welcome by Er. Angshu Kumar Roy, President of Shivasundari NariSikshasram along with its in-charge Secretary Dr. Rajdeep Roy- MP Silchar and other members.

In his welcome speech, Er. Angshu Kumar Roy said, “It’s our privilege to have in our midst the Deputy Commissioner and Police Super for the 1st time after taking charge of the district. The Shivasundari NariSikshasram & Antenatal Clinic, Silchar since its establishment in 1931 has been working relentlessly for healthcare of the people.” He narrated about the various ongoing projects of NariSikshasram.

Since the death of the Secretary Dr. Manojendra Shyam, executive committee member and MP Silchar Dr. Rajdeep Roy has been discharging the duties of the Secretary. Speaking during the occasion, Dr. Rajdeep Roy briefed the invitees about the rich tradition of Shivasundari NariSikshasram. He said that the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) training is also conducted and at present 40 such trainees are staying in the campus and doing the course.

Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar was highly impressed by the way Shivasundari NariSikshasram & Antenatal Clinic was functioning. She went around the campus of NariSikshasram and took stock of the various facilities available there. In her speech DC Jalli showered lofty praise on the cleanliness maintained over there. She was also happy to note that NariSikshasram was maintaining the records of their patients since its establishment in 1931, which became very useful for the people at the time of collecting records for NRC verification.

Speaking during the occasion, Superintendent of Police, Cachar, Bhanwar Lal Meena also expressed satisfaction at the functioning of the hospital. He also discussed the security issues with the executive committee members. Earlier, the executive committee members felicitated the DC and SP on their maiden visit to Shivasundari NariSikshasram.

Present during the occasion on behalf of the executive committee of Shivasundari NariSikshasram & Antenatal Clinic were its President. Er. Angshu Kumar Roy, Secretary in-charge Dr. Rajdeep Roy (MP Silchar), Dr. Ashima Roy, Sashanka Dhar(Treasurer), Basudev Gupta (from the family of Land donor), Dipankar Ghosh, Nilanjan Aditya and others.

Spread over an area of around 15 bighas of land, the Shivasundari NariSikshasram & Antenatal Clinic donated 3 bighas of land for setting up Red Cross Hospital on the request of the then Deputy Commissioner of Cachar.
