Big Comeback: Jyoti to organise prize money Quiz & Debate contest at Silchar on 9 & 10 November

November 2: Jyoti is back and is all set to win the hearts once again. It’s back in a bigger, brighter and better form. North East Regional Inter College Invitational Quiz (NERICIQ) and North East Regional Inter College Invitational Debate (NERICID), the 2 flagship events of Jyoti will be held at Silchar Rajiv Bhawan on 9 and 10 November, 2019. way2barak.com shares the honour of being one of the media partners for this big event of Jyoti.

Once a very popular organisation ‘Jyoti’ was a huge crowd puller in the decade of 90’s. It’s popularity was so immense that the entire District Library Auditorium used to be house full. An organisation of mostly young college goers, Jyoti organised two events- Quiz and Debate. However, due to certain exigencies, the organisation stopped its events for some years. But now again with renewed vigour after a temporary lull, Jyoti to again set it’s sail from November 2019.

Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MP Silchar and an active member of Jyoti said, “We are all ready to infuse new life into Jyoti. Now-a-days, the culture of quiz and debate is passing through a bad phase here at Silchar. The revival of Jyoti will definitely boost the youth.”

The total expenditure for the great event to be held at Rajiv Bhawan was estimated at Rupees Eleven Lakh. Prize worth Rs. 2,23,000 will be given. For NERICIQ prizes amounting to Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 & Rs. 20,000 will be given to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders respectively. For NERICID prizes amounting to Rs 30,000, Rs. 20,000 & Rs. 12,000 will be given to the teams. For individuals, an amount of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 10,000 & Rs. 5,000 will be given to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders. Apart from these, consolation prizes will be given for both the events.

Chartered Accountant Ravi Patwa, one of the most active member of Jyoti wrote in social media, “Residents of Silchar should not miss this event. After a long time flagship event of Jyoti is being organised again. All the Educational Institutions from all over extended North East are participating. We have presence of IITs, IIM also.
