২৩ এপ্রিলঃ আচমকা পরিদর্শনে গিয়ে কাছাড়ের জেলাশাসক লায়া মাদ্দুরি টের পেলেন, জেলার অফিসগুলি কীভাবে চলছে। বিশেষ করে, গ্রামীণ কাছাড়ে সাধারণ জনতা যে অধিকাংশ দিনেই অফিসার-করণিকদের খুঁজে পান না, সরেজমিনে দেখলেন জেলাশাসক। মঙ্গলবার তিনি গিয়েছিলেন বড়জালেঙ্গা ব্লক অফিসে। গিয়ে দেখেন, অধিকাংশ চেয়ার ফাঁকা। এমনকী, তখনও অফিসে গিয়ে পৌঁছাননি অফিসের প্রধান কর্তা বিডিও-ও।

প্রচণ্ড ক্ষিপ্ত হন মাদ্দুরি। সঙ্গে ছিলেন গ্রামোন্নয়ন বিভাগের প্রকল্প সঞ্চালক রসরাজ দাস। তিনি রসরাজবাবুকে অনুপস্থিত সকলের নাম লিখে নিতে নির্দেশ দেন। জেলা জুড়ে গ্রামোন্নয়ন সংক্রান্ত অফিসগুলোতে সমস্ত কর্মীর সময়মত উপস্থিতি নিশ্চিত করতে বলেন। পাশাপাশি ব্লকের সমস্ত কাজ যেন সময়মত শেষ হয়, বেনেফিসারিরা যেন সময়মত তাদের ন্যায্য সুবিধে পান, তিনি দেখতেও তিনি রসরাজবাবুকে নির্দেশ দেন। ফেরার পথে তিনি আইরংমারা পঞ্চায়েতের অধীনে চলা একটি বাঁধ নির্মাণ পরিদর্শন করেন। ওই অঞ্চলের সাধারণ মানুষের মত বিনিময়ও করেন জেলাশাসক মাদ্দুরি।
