18 tests +ve in Cachar on Saturday; tally reaches 10995
Active cases 151 in Cachar
Dec. 5: On Saturday, a total of 18 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Cachar. During the day, a total of 1459 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done, out of which, 18 persons were found positive, whereas none were detected positive in RT-PCR Test. This was informed by Dr. Ibrahim Ali Ahmed, District Surveillance Officer (DSO), IDSP, Cachar on Saturday night.
With this, the district tally of coronavirus has now gone upto 10,995. Further, a total of 10,807 patients were discharged in the district as of now. Cachar registered a total of 37 COVID-19 deaths till now. At present, there are 151 active cases in the district. It needs mention here that 17 persons were found positive in Cachar on Friday.
In his daily briefing, Dr. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice Principal of Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) on Saturday said that in the last 24 hours, Throat swab of another 415 persons were collected. 329 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, out of which, 01 tested positive. Further, 428 Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) were done at SMCH in the last 24 hours, out of which, 04 were found positive.
Apart from this, 05 new patients of COVID-19 were admitted at SMCH in the last 24 hours and 02 were discharged. At present, there are 28 active patients at SMCH, out of which 05 are critical. The patients who are at present in critical condition are: Mina Rani Devi, Renu Mal, Taposhi Acharjee, Karuna indhu Deb and Priyo Kr Singha. A total of 07 patients are admitted in ICU, whereas 02 of them are put under oxygen support and 03 of them are kept in ventilator support.
Dr. Gupta further informed that in the last 24 hours, 01 patients have died due to COVID-19 at SMCH. The deceased was identified as Shukla Dastidar. However, the Death Audit Board has regarded it as non-Covid death. As of now, there were 174 COVID related deaths in SMCH. Of the 174 deaths, 63 of them were certified by the State Death Audit Board as COVID-19 confirmed deaths.
