Kumar Sanjay Krishna accorded farewell; Jishnu Barua takes charge as Chief Secretary

Oct. 31: Chief Secretary of Assam from Kumar Sanjay Krishna was accorded a farewell in a programme organised by Secretariat Administration Department, Guwahati, Assam on Saturday. The meeting was also held to welcome the new Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua. An IAS officer of 1985 batch Assam-Meghalaya Cadre, Sanjay Krishna served as Chief Secretary of Assam for the last 10 months.

Barua, who took charge at the official ceremony will remain in office till August, 2022. The 1988 batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre asked all officers to work in close coordination and said he expects support and blessings from everyone.

Jishnu Barua, an IAS Officer, was formerly in charge of Home & Political, Revenue & DM secretariat administration (archives) and Border Protection & Development, and Implementation of Assam Accord departments.

In a tweet, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday wrote, “I place on record sincere appreciation and gratitude to @KrSanjayKrishna for leading the bureaucracy as Chief Secretary during a turbulent phase in last few months. His hard work and leadership during the COVID times is appreciable. My best wishes
