Covid vaccination drive to begin at Biomed Diagnostic Centre, Silchar from 7 August

August 6: Amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the way out now is to get vaccinated and observance of Covid appropriate behaviour. As per the vaccination policy of the Union government, Vaccination drive is conducted both at government and private centres. However, off and on shortage in the supply of vaccines at government run centres has been reported. As such, Biomed Diagnostic Centre, Silchar has now joined hands to offer Covid-19 vaccines to the people on payment basis as per the rates stipulated by the government.

Biomed Diagnostic Centre, Silchar has received 60,000 doses of Covid Vaccine – Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India (SII), Pune. Informing this, Dr. Ranabir Paul on behalf of Biomed Diagnostic Centre, Silchar said, “From 7 August, we will start administering Covishield vaccine to the people. The vaccine will be provided at our centre from 11 AM till 7 PM everyday. Abiding by the government protocol, each dose of Covishield will be charged Rs. 780.”

Dr Paul further stated, “We are one of the only two Private Vaccination Centres in Assam to start Covid vaccination by purchasing vaccine directly from the manufacturer, which has to be minimum for 60,000 does for Covishield and 28,800 for Covaxin. The only other Private Vaccination Centre in Assam is Dibrugarh, and that too is a hospital. We have received the first consignment of 60,000 doses of Covishield on Friday. Very soon, we shall also order Covaxin.”

“We have received the 60,000 doses of Covid Vaccine – Covishield today afternoon, that was dispatched from Pune via Mumbai – Bangalore – Kolkata and finally to Silchar. The Gel Pack used in the vaccine box had a temperature metre too that can be retrieved to get the information of the temperature maintained during transportation, added Dr Ranabir Paul.

Biomed Diagnostic Centre, Silchar further informed that the vaccine will be available both in online and offline mode. Dr Paul stated, “We will keep advance booking option available in the website www.cowin.gov.in and also from our website www.biomedsilchar.com. Moreover, the facility of on-spot registration will also be available.”  Further, it was informed that though people will be encouraged to undergo Covid test prior to administering the vaccine, however, it will not be mandatory.
