Dr.Parmita Chakraborty tests +ve, residents near Public School lane gives NOC for home isolation

July 31: With the passage of time, more health workers including doctors are detected as novel coronavirus positive. Cachar district is also no exception to it. On Friday, Dr. Parmita Chakraborty (29), resident of Adi Shib Bari Road within the periphery of Public School Road, Silchar tested positive. She is, however, asymptomatic. Dr. Chakraborty works as a Resident Medical Officer at Green Heals Hospital. While interacting with way2barak, Dr. Parmita said that she did not go to Green Heals Hospital since last 14 days.

On Friday, Dr. Parmita Chakraborty (29) was detected positive in Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). She requested the Adi Shib Bari Lane Development Committee (Lane adjacent to Public School, Silchar) to provide her ‘No Objection’ for home isolation. Immediately after her appeal, the Lane Development Committee consulted among themselves and arrived at the conclusion that they have no objection if Dr. Parmita Chakraborty stays in home isolation. “I express thanks to all the residents of our lane for being humane in handling this situation and allowing me home isolation,” said Dr. Parmita Chakraborty.

President of the Adi Shib Bari Lane Development Committee Premendu Roy, Secretary Narayan KangshaBanik and Sabyasachi Roy informed that they have decided that any resident of their lane (including tenants) if tests COVID-19 positive, they they will have no objection in allowing home quarantine to that patient. They also decided that the other residents of the lane will provide essential commodities to such persons who will go for home isolation due to coronavirus. However, they added that such persons of their lane who will go for home isolation should observe the COVID-19 protocol issued by the government. The same was also confirmed by other residents of the lane Pritam Roy, Priyodeep Roy, Sanju Sinha and Tulsi Dutta.

It needs mention here that eminent cardiologist Dr. P.C. Sharma and his wife were the 1st coronavirus positive patients to be allowed home isolation by the district health department after he satisfied the conditions laid down by Assam government in this connection. Earlier, Sukanta Sarani (Hailakandi Road, Silchar) also took a similar decision in allowing any asymptomatic positive patient of their lane to stay in home isolation.
