CM visits Khaspur & Bhuban Tirtha in Cachar district
Sept. 19: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled a statue of Raja Gobinda Chandra Narayana Hasnu, the last king of the Dimasa Kachari Kingdom, at Silchar Circuit House premises today. The statue has been installed under the aegis of Barman Dimasa Kachari Development Council.

Appreciating the Barman Dimasa Kachari Development Council for the initiative to install the statue, the Chief Minister said that Raja Sri Sri Sri Gobinda Chandra Narayana Hasnu played a pivotal role in the preservation of Dimasa Kachari culture, language and literature. Stating that the state government has also been working dedicatedly to preserve the language, culture, religious faiths, traditions and customs of all indigenous communities of the state, the Chief Minister assured to take special measures for preservation of heritage and for speedy development of the Barman Dimasa Kacharis.
Minister for Cultural Affairs Bimal Bora, MPs Dr. Rajdeep Roy and Pallab Lochan Das, MLAs Dipayan Chakrabarty and Kaushik Roy, Chairman of Barman Dimasa Kachari Development Council Rupesh Khersa Barman were also present on the occasion.
Visited Khaspur at Udharbond in Cachar district, Dimasa Kachari kingdom's last capital, and had a look at monuments, besides attending a meeting.

Chief Minister Dr. Sarma today also visited Khaspur at Udharbond in Cachar district which was the last capital of the Dimasa Kachari kingdom. The Chief Minister paid a visit to the monuments of the kingdom at Khaspur that bear testimony to the unique architecture of the Dimasa Kacharis.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government would take a project covering 100 bigha land to preserve the heritage of the Dimasa-Kachari kingdom at Khaspur and to turn the place into an attractive tourist destination. He also informed that under the Department of Indigenous Faith and Culture, the Government of Assam would initiate steps for preservation of Dimasa Kachari heritage, manuscripts and monuments. Moreover, the state government would take steps to strengthen the Barman Dimasa Kachari Development Council in a bid to fast track the development of the community, the Chief Minister said.
MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy also spoke on the occasion. While MLA Mihir Kanti Som delivered the welcome speech, Environment & Forests Minister Parimal Suklabaidya and Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Bora, MP Pallab Lochan Das, MLAs Dipayan Chakrabarty and Kaushik Roy were also present among others.
Visited Bhuban Tirtha in Cachar district and offered prayers at the ancient temple atop the hill seeking blessings for the people of the State.

On the otherhand, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma in the morning visited historic Bhuban Tirtha in Cachar district and offered prayer at the ancient temple atop the hill and sought blessings for the people of the state. Attending a meeting there, the Chief Minister said that state government would develop Bhuban Tirtha as an important pilgrimage site having all amenities for pilgrims with active cooperation of the local people.
