Centre extends lockdown till May 31; Click to know the rules of Lockdown 4.0

May 17: The union government extended the lockdown for another two weeks, till 31 May, as India’s COVID-19 case-count surged past 90,000. State government will now be deciding about zones. Zoning activities relinquished by the centre. The delineation of Red, Green and Orange zones will be decided by the respective state and UT governments, after taking into consideration the parameters shared by the Health Ministry. Within the red and orange zones, containment zones and buffer zones will be demarcated by the district authorities after taking into consideration the guidelines of the Health Ministry. In the containment zones, only essential activities shall be allowed.

All educational institutions including coaching centres and tuition centres shall remain closed till 31 May, 2020. Inter-state & intra-state movement of vehicles has been allowed. States are to decide on passenger movement. Sporting activities have been permitted but without any audience. That means stadiums shall be permitted to be kept open but without any spectators. All markets and all shops are to open barring those in malls in all zones.

According to the guidelines, all international and domestic flights will  continue to be banned except for medical and emergency purposes. Metro rail services still remains suspended. Hotels and restaurants will also continue to be remained shut. Restaurants can ensure only home delivery of food. All religious congregation also continues to be prohibited. Further, gymns, parks, cinema halls,swimming pools, bars, auditoriums and malls will also remain shut. All political gatherings are also prohibited.

According to the fresh guidelines, the movement of people between 7 pm to 7 am shall not be allowed except for essential services. However, in case of Assam, the night curfew shall in all probability continue to be from 6 pm to 6 AM. The state governments are also allowed to issue additional restrictions as deemed necessary.

Persons above 65 years of age, persons with co-morbidities, pregnant women and children below the age of 10 years, shall stay at home, except for essential and health purposes.
