Job aspirant alleges DDU Govt Model College Hailakandi did not send call letter for interview

'Deprived' candidates to lodge complaint with DC Hailakandi

Nov. 2: A serious allegation was made against the authority of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (PDDU) Govt. Model College, Katlicherra, Hailakandi by job aspirants who stated that inspite of having requisite qualification, they were not sent call letters for appearing in the interview.

Infact, PDDU Govt. Model College, Hailakandi gave advertisement for filling up vacancies of 23 posts of Assistant Professors in the different departments. Advertisement was also given for filling up vacancies of 11 non-teaching posts in the college. The last date for sending applications by the aspirants was 26 August, 2020. After that, the college initiated the process of taking interviews from September 2020 onwards.

On 2 November, 2020, interview for the posts of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics was conducted. It is in this connection, that a job aspirant has made serious allegation against the college authority for not sending call letter for appearing in the interview. Speaking to way2barak, Nairita Bhattacharjee who applied for an unreserved post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics said, “I got Gold Medal in MA from Economics in 2011. Then I also completed my Ph.D in 2018. Meanwhile, I also qualified both NET and SLET. Apart from this, I have many publications in reputed journals including Scopus Indexed Journals. Inspite of this, I was not sent call letter by the college.”

Expressing surprise, Nairita Bhattacharjee said, “Suddenly, I came to know from an acquaintance, that today interview for the post which I have applied was conducted. I could not understand the reason for not sending me call letter by the college authority. There may be candidates better qualified than me who may get this job. But that is a separate issue. That would be decided by the interview board. The very fact that I was not called for the interview speaks volume of injustice.”

She also claimed that some others who too had requisite qualification for other posts like that of Assistant Professor in Economics (OBC) reserved, History, Political Science also were not sent call letters for appearing in the interview. “When I tried to call the Principal of the college, Saidur Rehman Barbhuiya, he did not pick up the phone. Other candidates who were not sent the call letters for the interview also tried to call the Principal, who did not respond to their calls,” alleged Nairita Bhattacharjee. She also said, “Sandeep Rudra Paul who applied for OBC reserved post of Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics met the same fate.”

However, Nairita Bhattacharjee categorically told way2barak that she is not going to sit idle. She would formally lodge a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi, who is the Chairperson of the Governing Body of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (PDDU) Govt. Model College, Katlicherra, Hailakandi.

Meanwhile, when the Hailakandi correspondent of way2barak contacted Saidur Rehman Barbhuiya, Principal of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (PDDU) Govt. Model College, Hailakandi, he rubbished the allegations made by Nairita Bhattacharjee. Speaking over telephone with our correspondent, the Principal said, “All eligible candidates were sent the call letters. However, those who have sent their applications after the due date (26 August, 2020) were naturally rejected. Further, there were some candidates, whose applications were incomplete. Some of them have sent their marksheets and certificates without any application, whereas some others did not enclose the requisite demand draft. Hence, the screening committee rejected their candidature and so naturally call letters were not sent to them. Apart from this, all others were given the call letters for appearing in the interview.”

Nairita Bhattacharjee expressed with confidence that inspite of sending her application in a proper way, she was not given call for appearing in the interview. The truth in this matter can only come out, if the Deputy Commissioner of Hailakandi in his capacity as the Chairperson of the Governing Body of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (PDDU) Govt. Model College, Hailakandi does an enquiry into the incident.
