Cachar DPC meeting charts mission-mode path to development
way2barak, November 25 : In a significant stride towards development, the District Planning Committee (DPC) of Cachar convened a pivotal meeting on Monday at the Cachar Zilla Parishad Conference Hall, Silchar. Presided over by District Commissioner Mridul Yadav and Chief Executive Officer Pranab Kumar Borah, the meeting reviewed and approved schemes under the 15th Finance Commission’s second installment for 2023-2024.
The gathering witnessed active participation from all MLAs of Cachar district, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and key DPC members, emphasizing the collaborative effort to enhance governance and development.
District Commissioner, Mridul Yadav, who also serves as the President of Cachar Zilla Parishad and Ex-Officio Chairman of the DPC, provided a comprehensive overview of ongoing projects across Zilla Parishad, Anchalik Panchayat, and Gaon Panchayat levels. Highlighting the need for efficiency, he stressed the importance of expediting pending works from fiscal years 2020-21 to 2023-24, setting a firm deadline for completion by December 30, 2024.
BDOs were tasked with closely monitoring ground-level activities to ensure 100% physical progress within the stipulated timeline. In a significant announcement, the action plans for the second installment of 2024 received in-principle approval, pending final clearance from the Guardian Minister of Cachar District—a move aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability.
The meeting underscored the district’s commitment to aligning local initiatives with state and national priorities. Stakeholders collectively agreed to adopt a mission-mode approach to address delays and optimize resource utilization, reflecting a shared vision for sustainable development.
