Cachar DC briefs media on extensive ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ preparations

way2barak, August 11:— Cachar District Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta briefed the media on the extensive preparations undertaken by the district administration for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign and the observance of Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas outlining a series of patriotic, educational, cultural and community-oriented programmes to be organised across Cachar.

The media briefing was held at the Old Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday in the presence of Additional District Commissioner Devid Kumar Bora, ACS. Briefing the media, the District Commissioner said that the district administration has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure active participation of citizens from all sections of society and to take the message of patriotism, national unity and civic responsibility to the grassroots.

Addressing the media persons DC Rahul Kumar Gupta said that as part of the campaign, the Tiranga Bike Rally, organised jointly by the District Police and District Transport Office (DTO) was successfully conducted on 9 August. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation and carried the message of national pride through the streets of Silchar, setting the tone for the series of programmes being organised in the run-up to Independence Day.

The District Commissioner informed that a number of activities are being conducted from 10 to 14 August across government and private schools and educational institutions. These include Art, Essay and Debate Competitions, along with various activities of the Education Department, NCC/NSS coordination and school cleanliness initiatives. The final round of the Art, Essay and Debate Competitions will be held at Gandhi Bhawan on 14 August. The competitions are aimed at engaging students in the celebration of the nation’s freedom, history, democratic values and spirit of unity.

He further informed that cleanliness drives are being undertaken from 10 to 14 August across government offices, schools, markets, public places and other locations. The initiative is being carried out with the participation of the Silchar Municipal Corporation, Lakhipur, Sonai and Badarpur Municipal Boards, Zilla Parishad, BDOs, civil society organisations and various government departments, with the objective of combining the spirit of patriotism with civic responsibility and cleanliness.

A Tiranga Rally will be organised on 12 August commencing from DSA at 5:00 PM and proceeding towards Gandhi Bagh Park where the programme will also include the singing of Vande Mataram. The rally will also involve the participation of the District Administration, Police, NCC, NYK, NSS, ASRLM, NULM, civil society organisations, District Sports Office and other departments.

The patriotic campaign will also reach the grassroots through Prabhat Ferries and rallies at the block level on 12 and 13 August. These activities will be coordinated by ASRLM and the Development Blocks with participation from CEO, Zilla Parishad and DSW. Tiranga stalls, sales activities, rallies and participation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) will form an important part of these programmes, providing a platform for community participation and encouraging local initiatives.

On 13 August, the singing of Vande Mataram will be organised at schools, Anganwadi Centres, Gaon Panchayat offices, Block offices and Circle offices across the district. The activities will be coordinated by the Education Department, Social Welfare Department, CEO, Zilla Parishad, Circle Officers and CDC offices, ensuring that the patriotic message reaches institutions and communities at the grassroots level.

The District Commissioner also informed that a Blood Donation Camp is being organised under the coordination of the Joint Director of Health Services (JDHS).

He said that the district administration will observe ‘Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Diwas’ on 14 August with due solemnity and dignity. A Candlelight March will commence from DSA sports complex,Silchar at 6:30 PM commemorating the immense suffering, displacement and sacrifices associated with the Partition of India. A Blood Donation Camp will also be organised as part of the observance.

The District Commissioner emphasised that the programmes have been designed to ensure broad-based participation with government departments, educational institutions, local bodies, youth organisations, Self-Help Groups, business associations, NGOs and civil society organisations coming together for the celebrations. The District Administration, Police, Education Department, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, NCC, NSS, NYK, ASRLM, NULM, Zilla Parishad, Development Blocks, Municipal bodies, Circle Offices, Chambers of Commerce, Food Grains Merchant’s Association and other departments and organisations are actively involved in the implementation of the programmes.

DC Rahul Kumar Gupta appealed to the people of Cachar to participate enthusiastically in the various programmes and to hoist the Tiranga with pride and dignity, transforming the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign into a collective celebration of India’s unity, diversity and democratic spirit. He also called upon citizens to uphold the values of cleanliness, civic responsibility, harmony and respect for the sacrifices made in the course of the nation’s freedom struggle.
