Cabinet entrusts IT Dept to set up mobile towers in rural areas for benefit of online education
June 30: The weekly Assam Cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday in Dispur which was chaired by Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The following key decisions were taken in the Cabinet Meeting:
- Personnel, from the rank of Sub-inspector to Constable, in all the arms battalion of Assam Police will be given one-month compulsory leave every year for visiting their homes. Those personnel staying with their families in quarters will be given 10 days leave every year.
- MLA Padma Hazarika, currently heading the committee for utilising 77,000 bighas of land for agricultural purpose at Gorukhuti, Sipajhar, to be given cabinet rank for effectively carrying out his responsibilities.
- Transportation commission paid to fair price shops and cooperative societies hiked from Rs 100.10 to Rs 143 per quintal of rice under NFSA.
- For the first time, each of 860 cooperative societies in Assam to get Rs 5 lakh per year for using godowns and other sources
- Transportation contracts for carrying commodities from FCI godowns will be given, preferably to cooperatives

3. Information Technology (IT) Department instructed to set up mobile towers to enhance connectivity in rural areas, especially for benefit of students in their online education
4. Ministers Chandra Mohan Patowary, Atul Bora and Dr. Ranoj Pegu have been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure implementation of cabinet decisions and inform the cabinet about the implementation status.
